Our client is seeking a highly motivated and proactive mechanical engineer to assist in making tooling and service toolroom equipment. Full training and development will be provided for candidates with core skills in mechanical or manufacturing engineering.

The Role:

Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting with tooling designs for prototypes and developing existing builds.
  • Overseeing the implementation and development of casting systems.
  • Collaborating with CAD technicians to design and develop tooling systems.
  • Testing and improving punch tool designs.
  • Monitoring tooling assembly builds to ensure quality.
  • Monitoring and improving processes.
  • Studying work orders and drawings to make controlled alterations for tooling development.
  • Working within set procedures and tolerances.
  • Documenting, reporting, and communicating actions, irregularities, and ongoing needs to ensure continuity among colleagues.
  • Collaborating with various departments and external suppliers in tooling development.

Key attributes:

  • 10+ years of experience in tooling manufacture or toolmaking.
  • Formal engineering qualification or apprenticeship in mechanical or toolmaking.
  • CNC experience.
  • Maintenance background.
