Bridgwater | Salary: £37k-£42k plus bonus | Hours: Weekdays 8am-5pm or alternate shifts 6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm | PermanentIntroduction

Acorn by Synergie is recruiting an NVQ Engineering Toolmaker (CNC). This hands-on role focuses on precision toolmaking to tight tolerances, supporting production agility, equipment reliability, and site safety. The role ensures tools are manufactured to exacting standards and delivered on time, enabling the business to respond rapidly to new orders and designs while maintaining high levels of quality and efficiency.

Key Duties:
  • Manufacture and refurbish high-precision, low-tolerance tooling to technical drawings using manual and CNC workshop equipment, including XYZ ProTrak machines.
  • Collaborate with design teams to interpret engineering drawings and develop new tooling solutions.
  • Provide timely, creative engineering solutions to manufacturing challenges.
  • Propose and implement innovations to improve tooling and production processes.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient workshop environment through proactive housekeeping and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Provide support to the maintenance team when required.
  • Contribute to Manufacturing Excellence and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Assist in developing colleagues, including mentoring apprentices and sharing technical expertise.
Requirements:
  • Apprentice-trained NVQ or equivalent engineering qualification.
  • Proven experience in precision machining, tool design, and fabrication.
  • Skilled in high-precision, low-tolerance toolmaking.
  • Experience with CNC and manual machining, particularly on XYZ ProTrak machines.
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to extremely tight tolerances.
  • Strong task prioritisation and time management skills.
  • Effective problem-solving and decision-making capabilities.
  • Clear communication and ability to collaborate across functions.
  • Initiative-driven with an innovative mindset.
The Offer:
  • Salary £37k per annum with weekday hours, finishing 1pm on Fridays.
  • £42k per annum for alternate week shift pattern (6am-2pm / 2pm-10pm).
