A leading aerospace engineering company in Farnborough is seeking a skilled Tooling Design and CAD Engineer for a 6-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will design production tooling for aircraft structures, generating detailed CAD models and collaborating with various engineering teams. Strong experience in CAD software, along with an understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, is essential. This role requires eligibility to work in the UK and will provide necessary tools and software.
Our client, a leading aerospace engineering company, is looking to engage a skilled Tooling Design and CAD Engineer on a 6-month fixed-term contract. The successful candidate will support tooling development and CAD design activities for aircraft structures and components, working within a high-performing manufacturing engineering team.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and develop production tooling: jigs, fixtures, assembly aids, and handling equipment.
Generate detailed 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings using CATIA V5/V6, NX, or SolidWorks.
Ensure tooling designs align with manufacturing, quality, and safety standards.
Apply GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, and DFM/DFA principles.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Design, Production, and Quality Engineering.
Support tooling trials, validation, and troubleshooting on the shop floor.
Maintain accurate technical documentation and design records in accordance with AS9100 standards.
Essential Skills & Experience:
5 + Years, Proven experience in tooling design and CAD within the aerospace or precision engineering sector.
Strong working knowledge of CAD software (CATIA V5/V6, Siemens NX, or SolidWorks).
Familiar with aerospace manufacturing processes, materials, and assembly techniques.
Strong understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and industry standards.
Excellent communication, problem-solving, and team collaboration skills.
Eligibility to work in UK; clearance will be required for this role.
Desirable:
Experience working with composite tooling or metal-forming dies.
Knowledge of PLM systems and digital release processes (e.g., Teamcenter, Enovia).
Previous experience with aerospace OEMs or Tier 1 suppliers.
