Job summary

Azenta UK, Ltd. is seeking a Tool Technician Apprentice in Wotton, Nr Dorking. You will assist in cleaning, maintenance, servicing, and repair of production tools while learning to inspect tools and perform basic repairs under supervision.

On‑the‑job training with SIGTA Training, mentorship from experienced tool technicians, and academic coursework will develop mechanical skills and teamwork in a clean, safe environment. Own transport required due to rural location.

Qualifications

• Interest in mechanical engineering, manufacturing, or toolmaking.
• Must meet eligibility criteria for an approved apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Assist in cleaning, maintenance, servicing and repair of production tools.
• Learn to inspect tools for wear or damage and carry out basic repairs.
• Set up and operate workshop machines such as lathes, mills, grinders, and CNC equipment.
• Follow detailed engineering drawings and specifications to ensure tooling is produced to required standards.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed and tooling condition reports.
• Document service and repair work by completing electronic records, including photographs of issues documented.
• At times support production by completing cleans or repairs in the clean room factory.
• Assist in equipment repairs and breakdowns if required.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
• Learn and adhere to all relevant health and safety standards and procedures.
• Participate in team meetings and toolbox talks to develop understanding of continuous improvement practices.
• Attend relevant training courses and complete academic coursework associated with the apprenticeship.
