Job Description:

Toolmaker / Machinist

Location: Scarborough

Join a skilled and supportive engineering team — and grow your hands-on expertise.

We're looking for a Toolmaker / Machinist to join our client's Works Services Team in Scarborough. Whether you're experienced or just have a solid foundation in engineering and machining (milling, grinding, etc.), this could be a great opportunity to develop your skills further in a practical, well-equipped environment.

What You'll Do:

  • Maintain, repair, and modify press tools to keep production running smoothly
  • Manufacture precision tools to customer specifications
  • Identify and resolve faults in tooling and machinery
  • Help manage spare parts and materials
  • Collaborate on new tool designs and fabrication
  • Operate a range of toolroom machines: millers, drills, grinders, lathes, wire eroders
  • Follow health & safety protocols and report unsafe practices
  • Support machine breakdown investigations and continuous improvement
  • Share knowledge and support team training where possible

What We're Looking For:

  • Basic to advanced engineering knowledge – if you've worked with milling, grinding, or similar, we want to hear from you
  • Ideally, experience with press tooling or CNC/power presses
  • Comfortable using toolroom equipment and precision measurement tools
  • Ability to read 2D and 3D engineering drawings is a plus (but we can help you build this skill)
  • A practical, hands-on mindset and a focus on quality and safety
  • Good problem-solving skills and a team-oriented attitude

This is a great role for someone who wants to build their machining and tooling skills in a real-world, production-focused setting. If you're motivated and mechanically minded — even without all the boxes ticked — we encourage you to apply.
