Toll Collector – £12.60/hr | 18 Hours a Week | Flexible Shifts

Key Purpose

As a Toll Collector, you’ll play a vital role in managing toll transactions with accuracy and professionalism. You’ll help keep traffic flowing safely and efficiently while providing outstanding service to every driver you encounter – no two interactions are ever the same!

Hours & Flexibility

  • 18 hours per week
  • £12.60 per hour
  • Must be willing to work a flexible mix of day, night, and weekend shifts

Job Description

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Operating lane equipment and managing toll booths smoothly and professionally
  • Classifying vehicles and processing toll payments per the schedule
  • Recording and handling cash accurately, preparing deposits, and ensuring safe handovers
  • Communicating clearly and courteously with drivers, resolving enquiries on the spot or escalating where needed
  • Following safety and operational procedures – keeping yourself and others safe
  • Liaising with the Bridge Control Room and following instructions promptly
  • Reporting incidents or equipment faults when necessary
  • Maintaining supplies and equipment in your booth
  • Writing clear reports and interpreting information effectively
  • Upholding high standards of appearance and professionalism at all times

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

Essential:

  • The right to work in the UK
  • A 5-year checkable employment history (including study, unemployment, or self-employment)
  • Minimum of secondary school education
  • Strong IT and communication skills
  • A natural ability to deliver top-notch customer service – with at least 2 years' experience in a customer-facing role
  • A commitment to our core values of Integrity, Vigilance, and Helpfulness

Desirable:

  • Experience in a customer service or public-facing role
  • Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate
  • Previous work in the service sector
