Job summary

York Campus Nursery, operated by York Commercial Limited for the University of York, is seeking an Early Years Assistant to join the toddler team on a 27.5‑hour week. You will help deliver a warm, safe and stimulating environment for children aged 3 months to school age, aligned with the EYFS framework.

You will work closely with the Early Years Practitioner and Room Leader to support children’s social, emotional and physical development, contributing to high‑quality care and learning across

Qualifications

• Level 2 or higher childcare qualification is required.
• Experience working with the 0–5 age range is essential.
• Ability to work warmly with children, parents and colleagues.
• Awareness of equal opportunity issues.

Responsibilities

• Support the day‑to‑day running of the toddler room with the EY Practitioner and Room Leader.
• Care for children and maintain a high‑quality, stimulating EYFS learning environment.
• Assist with safeguarding, security of the nursery, and materials.
• Contribute to assessments and learning journals for children.
• Follow safeguarding policies and report concerns promptly.
