Client/Child:
Phoebe (18) is a lovely young lady who loves everything pink, glittery, and all things music and dance! She lives in a fully adapted house with her parents, younger siblings, and two very loving dogs (Labrador and Labradoodle).
Phoebe has quadriplegic cerebral palsy, complex medical needs, epilepsy, is non-verbal, and has a visual impairment. All medication and fluids are administered via a PEG, she is oxygen-dependent overnight, and requires occasional suctioning. Phoebe attends a specialist education setting, with plans for a community-based placement next year. Her home is fully adapted, with her own dedicated areas including bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and therapy room. She has a round-the-clock care team, and there is an opening for two full-time carers. All necessary training will be provided.
Your role will be to provide holistic support to Phoebe in all aspects of her health, care, and medical needs, including personal care, administering medication, PEG feeding, therapy programs, and manual handling. You will plan fun, stimulating, and sensory activities for her. The night shift begins with a full handover. You will assist Phoebe with her evening and bedtime routines, monitor her throughout the night, tend to her needs, and complete shift paperwork. A carer’s room with a comfortable chair and desk is available. There is also an opportunity to travel with the family on summer holidays — a valid passport is required. Training in all aspects of Phoebe’s care plan is provided. Previous experience supporting young people with additional needs is advantageous but not essential.
Night shifts on weekdays, weekends, and school holidays. The rota is planned 4 weeks in advance and includes a mix of long days, mornings, afternoons, and nights.
This position is ideal for a responsible, flexible, patient, and warm female support worker. It offers a rewarding opportunity to join an established home care team, develop existing skills, and support a very special young lady.
This role is highly rewarding, offering the chance to be part of Phoebe’s dedicated team. The family is fully supportive, and you will work alongside experienced nurses, carers, and therapists.
