Project Overview:

The Project is the expansion of an existing process facility located on a nuclear site in Capenhurst, Cheshire (UK). The facility is being expanded in response to changing market dynamics and will provide a major component of UK’s nuclear energy security strategy. The Project scope includes the planning of Front-End Engineering Design (FEED), production of a concept design, and delivery of a FEED. Subject to successful completion of FEED, there is potential for a follow-on EPCM contract. The project will be executed with a consultant organization experienced in design, risk management, safety cases, and permissioning of UK Nuclear facilities. The design consultant and shared project office are located in Warrington, Cheshire (UK). The role will primarily be based at the project office with travel to Capenhurst as needed. Flexibility in work location includes at least three days per week at the project office.

Candidates must be able to obtain an SC security clearance.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Project Engineer with experience managing a design process through to implementation. Strong stakeholder communication skills and the ability to support complex technical and practical issues are essential. The candidate should demonstrate a collaborative working style through positive and transparent behaviors.

This position is part-time telework per our global policy and may require at least three days per week in-person attendance at the office or project site.

Major Responsibilities:

• Support the Engineering Assurance Manager in service management.
• Demonstrate knowledge of ensuring design process assurance from start to implementation.
• Manage design requirements, decisions, and information transfer (e.g., Technical Queries).
• Oversee design consultant schedules and performance, including progress reporting.
• Implement and manage CDM regulations, roles, responsibilities, and duties.
• Manage project commitments within contractual constraints.
• Maintain a responsible attitude towards safety and security.
• Motivate self and teams, handle conflicts, and foster collaboration.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Recognized bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or equivalent.
• Relevant work experience with thorough technical understanding of the duties described.
• Knowledge of engineering phases in a single discipline or multiple disciplines in a related area.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Understanding of construction activities related to engineering disciplines, costs, scheduling, and contract management on large infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of ES&H standards, quality, codes, and compliance requirements.
• Experience with risks involved in large infrastructure construction.
• Understanding of subcontract management and interpretation of subcontract documents.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for positive stakeholder engagement.
• Proficiency in Word, Excel, and database applications.
