Job summary

Andover Public Schools (APS) seeks a part-time Tittle III Tutor to support multilingual/English learners across grades 9-12. The role is district-based, serving multiple schools and reporting to the EL Program Coordinator.

The position offers 15 hours per week for a 30-week program (Sept. 21, 2026–May 7, 2027) with a pay rate of $56.69/hour and no benefits. A 4-year college degree and relevant ESL or SEI endorsements are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4-year college degree and teaching/tutoring experience.
• Fluency in a world language and cultural proficiency preferred.
• Experience with multilingual learners/English learners preferred; ESL/SEI endorsements or related certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support multilingual/English learners individually, in small groups, and in the general education classroom.
• Co-plan with English language/ESL and core academic teachers to develop lesson activities that facilitate acquisition of social and academic English, proficiency in US school culture, numeracy skills, and grade-level curricula.
• Work with ESL teacher(s) to provide appropriate adjustments of the child's regular classroom assignments, assessments, and homework with respect to English language proficiency.
• Provide assistance with homework and study skills.

Qualifications

1. Minimum of 4-year college degree and teaching/tutoring experience

2. Fluency in a World Language and demonstration of cultural proficiency preferred

3. Knowledge of or experience working with Multilingual learners/English learners preferred

4. Preferred certification as Teacher of English as a Second Language, Bilingual Education (Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Chinese), General Education with SEI endorsement or Reading specialist with SEI endorsement preferred
