Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse

We have an exciting opportunity to advertise for a part timeBand 7 Tissue Viability Lead Nurse who will predominatly work within theCommunity Tissue Viability Team .

The successful candidate will provide highly developed woundcare advice and assessment, leadership, developing educational programmes,developing practice, and undertaking audit and research, primarily supportingPatient Safety and Pressure Ulcer prevention.

An understanding ofthe pressure ulcer prevention agenda and National Wound Care Strategy togetherwith a passion for wound care and experience in developing and deliveringeducational packages would be advantageous.Experience as a Tissue Viability Nurse and Team Leader and recognisedqualification in woundcare would be beneficial alongwith leadership skill andknowledge

The post holder will be required to cover theservice across CDDFT region therefore independent travel is essential.

Main duties of the job
  • Managing a clinical case load of patients
  • Prioritising patient referrals via a triage pathway
  • Developing new educational packages
  • Delivering existing educational packages
  • Participating in educational and audit activities
  • Assisting the TV Matron in achieving the service objectives
  • Develop, implement and evaluate a specialist service,ensuring high standards of care and safe, effective clinical practice
  • Provide expert advice, education and support to staff,patients, their families and carers
  • Lead on clinical audit activities
  • Contribute to / lead the development of policies,procedures, protocols and guidelines
  • Provide a range of educational and training packages forhealth care staff and patients.
  • Support, develop and manage junior staff
  • Manage the service on a day-to-day basis as required
  • Manage the service/team in the absence of TVNAacute Lead

We have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals in Chester-le-Street, Shotley Bridge, Barnard Castle, Sedgefield and Weardale as well as over 80 other community based settings and providing care in patients' homes.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will work with and support the TissueViability Clinical Matron across the Trust to ensure that all patients,relatives and staff have access to specialist Tissue Viability care andsupport.

The post holder will promote the delivery ofhigh quality, clinically effective care, prioritising and utilising researchand collaborating with colleagues in every day practice. The post holder willbe responsible for line management and leadership across the Tissue Viabilityservice devloping practice and education.The post holder will be required totravel between sites and across regions covered by CDDFT. The post holder willparticipate in the design, implementation, evaluation & change managementof innovative projects.

Experience
  • Experience of line management and supervising of junior staff

  • Experience with Topical negative pressure, wound debridement, larvae therapy and complex wound management

Special Requirements

Qualifications
  • Registered General Nurse (Level 1)

  • Recognised teaching qualification(Practice assessor / Mentorship)
  • Have or be willing to undertake masters degree
  • In depth knowledge of tissue viability, wound care delivery and leadership
  • Experience of working within a similar specialist environment
  • Leadership and management development course certified
