Queen Mary University of London is seeking a Timetable Officer to produce the teaching timetable for designated Schools/Institutes, aligning student preferences with teaching capacity. You will work under Timetabling Managers and ensure timetables reflect staff availability and optimise use of teaching space.
You will develop in-depth knowledge of curriculum structures, apply timetabling software, and collaborate across Registry Services to support an excellent student experience.
The Timetable Officer has a key role in the production of the teaching timetable for a number of schools at Queen Mary.
Working under the supervision of the Timetabling Managers, Deputy Head of Timetabling and the Head of Timetabling, the post holder will act as key contact within central timetabling for specific designated Schools/Institutes. The role is responsible for the production of the teaching timetable for all taught students within designated Schools/Institutes, ensuring that wherever possible timetables reflect student preferences while making efficient use of the teaching estate and adhering to teaching staff availability information.
The post-holder will develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of curriculum structures and timetabling requirements for the Schools/Institutes that they are responsible for. This, combined with expertise with timetabling software and advanced problem-solving skills will be used to optimise student timetables., Registry Services provides professional support for teaching, learning and research at Queen Mary. The team works closely with the Vice-Principals for Education and Research, providing advice on the effectiveness of Queen Mary's policies and procedures for the management of academic standards and the quality of provision. Within Registry Services, the Central Timetabling team is responsible for delivering the teaching timetable, ensuring that it maximises the use of teaching accommodation and supports an excellent student experience.
You will have experience working in higher education and with office systems, processes, and cross-departmental collaboration. Ideally, you will have experience of university timetabling and software such as Scientia or Semestry.
You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Your interpersonal skills will be excellent, including the ability to influence, negotiate, build relationships and give and receive feedback. You will also have strong organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise a varied workload and manage competing deadlines.
