Qualifications

  • Production: Execute manufacturing tasks safely, efficiently, and in line with company procedures.
  • Assembly: Support product handling activities, including assembling pre-cut timber into panels, gables, and trusses.
  • Safety: Follow all health, safety, and environmental policies and safe systems of work.
  • Equipment Use: Operate tools, machinery, and woodworking equipment correctly, reporting faults promptly.
  • Quality Control: Assist with quality checks and report issues to supervisors.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain organization and cleanliness across work areas.
  • Teamwork: Work cooperatively with colleagues to meet daily production targets and shift handovers.
  • Development: Participate in ongoing training, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Timber Frame General Operative

Industry: Sustainable Construction & Timber Manufacturing

Position Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Hours: 38.75 hours per week

Compensation & Shift Financials

This role features a structured pay increase alongside shift allowances. The calculated annual salary brackets (based on a standard 52-week year) are detailed below:

  • Dayshift (7:00 AM – 3:15 PM)
    • Starting Hourly Rate: £14.07/hr (includes 10% allowance on £12.79 base)
    • Post-Probation Rate (6 Months): £14.30/hr (includes 10% allowance on £13.00 base)
    • Estimated Annual Salary Bracket: £28,349 – £28,814
  • Backshift (3:00 PM – 11:15 PM)
    • Starting Hourly Rate: £15.35/hr (includes 20% allowance on £12.79 base)
    • Post-Probation Rate (6 Months): £15.60/hr (includes 20% allowance on £13.00 base)
    • Estimated Annual Salary Bracket: £30,926 – £31,434

Principal Objective

Reporting to the relevant Shift Supervisor or Team Lead, the General Operative will support the safe, efficient, and well-organized day-to-day operations of the timber frame production line. You will work as part of a collaborative production team, carrying out hands-on operational tasks, maintaining strict safety and quality standards, and contributing to daily site productivity.

  • Quality Control: Assist with quality checks and report any product or process issues to supervisors.
  • Housekeeping: Maintain excellent organization and cleanliness standards across all assigned work areas.
  • Teamwork: Work cooperatively with colleagues to meet daily production targets and ensure smooth shift handovers.
  • Development: Participate in ongoing training, toolbox talks, safety briefings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Knowledge & Experience
  • Experience in timber frame, manufacturing, production, or similar environments is desirable but not essential.
