Overview

Temporary TIG Pipewelder position (with option for permanent contract after a 26‑week trial period) to support the expansion of a specialist pipework and fabrication firm. The role works Monday‑Thursday, providing a long weekend off, paid break times, free parking and pension contributions. OT is paid and opportunities exist to build a full‑time career.

Location & Working Hours

Morley, Leeds, Beeston – commutable from Shipley, Otley, Bradford, Wakefield, Dewsbury, Huddersfield and Halifax as well as local train stations.

Standard hours: 42 hours per week. Overtime is paid at 1.5× on Fridays (average 5 hours).

Pay

Paid Opportunity To Earn (OTE) £54,440.10 – £46,191.60 basic salary (£21.15 per hour). PAYE for standard 42 hours plus Overtime.

Responsibilities

• Weld to X‑ray standard on both stainless and carbon steel (mild) materials.
• Read drawings and cut and fabricate pipe spools unsupervised.
• Perform majority of welding using TIG and MAG techniques.
• Prepare for a welding test at interview, covering TIG stainless steel up to 89 mm diameter with 2–5.49 mm wall thickness and MAG carbon steel 114 mm diameter with 4.54 mm wall thickness.
• Weld at position PA/PB.
• Fabricate pipes, flanges, plant rooms and skids to high specification onto pipe spools.
• Carry out general shop duties across the shift.
• Adhere to strict Health and Safety standards set by the company.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of proven experience in fabrication and pipe welding with stainless steel and mild steels, or relevant qualifications/time‑served experience in MIG/TIG welding within a similar engineering environment.
• Capable of self‑directed work on pipe spools and assembly.
• Driving licence is ideal due to site location outside Leeds and potential wagon driving on an ad‑hoc basis.
• Previous experience as a coded or plater welder with MIG/TIG to X‑ray standard is preferred.
