An established industry player is seeking a Tier II Network Technician to enhance their digital modernization efforts. This role involves supporting and maintaining client LAN/WAN devices, troubleshooting network issues, and collaborating with Tier III engineers on various projects. The Digital Modernization Sector at Leidos has an opening for a Tier II Network Technician to support the customer’s computer data communications systems, providing design specifications, testing, and inspections for computer networks; planning and implementing upgrades; as well as analyzing and organizing corresponding hardware and software combined solutions through network modeling.
The job duties of the Tier II Network Technician are as follows:
Support the installation and maintenance of the client LAN/WAN devices.
Respond to and resolve incidents, demonstrate troubleshooting skills, and communicate with the team.
Complete assigned tasks within Service Level Objectives/Agreements (SLOs/SLAs).
Draft and implement standard network change requests.
Provide support to Tier III network engineers for incident management and projects (site surveys, TEMS, coordinate and install new equipment).
Perform configuration management functions such as updating topology drawings, ensuring asset management records are accurate, and conducting inventory.
Coordinate network operations, maintenance, repairs, or upgrades (Knowledge of CISCO/Juniper RMA process).
Layer 1 network experience (CAT5/6, SM/MM Fiber, Serial cables, SFP).
Layer 2 network experience (ability to configure/troubleshoot switches/routers, MAC addresses, VLANs, port security, applying thin and thick configs).
Layer 3 network experience (subnetting, familiar with protocols such as OSPF, BGP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE).
Configure and troubleshoot layer 2 switching (VLANs, Port Security, Thin Configs).
Perform IOS upgrades for Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, and Foundry OS.
Experience with Visio.
Familiar with ServiceNow and Confluence.
May have up to 10% COMSEC responsibilities based on site and team needs.
Requirements
TS SCI with a Poly.
Candidate must have 10 years of experience that can be a combination of work history and education. This equates to a Doctorate and 3 years, master’s and 4 years, bachelor’s and 6 years, associates and 8 years, or HS diploma and 10 years.
Compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) 8570 Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2.
Additional required qualifications include:
Available to travel up to 20% of the time.
Available to work flexible hours, including weekend support.
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment.
