Overview

Job Description

The Thought Leadership and Client Publications writer will be a key member of the firm's dynamic Thought Leadership team and will work closely with the Global Thought Leadership Partner and report to the Global Content and Thought Leadership Editor (the firm's editor in chief). This is an exciting and challenging role for an experienced writer/editor with a journalistic background who wants to develop their skills in a global organization.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Global Content and Thought Leadership Editor, the role holder will write content based on interviews/conversations with our lawyers or create write ups of events/webinars. These could be long or short-form pieces, client briefings, blogs, newsletters, video or podcast scripts.
  • The role will also involve working with our lawyers across the globe, helping them to craft publications that are of the highest quality and advising on structure, style and tone. You will also help to edit content that we create in partnership with external organisations.
  • The role holder will also assist in creating Partner Primers - short journalistic articles that give our lawyers a quick overview of global issues and legal topics that may lie outside their own areas of expertise. You may be writing about global trade one day and esports the next, so adaptability and curiosity are essential.
  • As part of the Thought Leadership team, you will also be encouraged to develop ideas for content that looks ahead at the issues that will have an impact on our clients.
  • You will also be responsible for hitting very tight deadlines, so if you are someone who likes to spend days honing the perfect sentence, this may not be the role for you.
  • Some flexibility working outside of UK time zones may be required.
  • An excellent academic record.
Qualifications
  • Experience in journalism is essential - preferably at national level.
  • You will have excellent writing, editing and research skills and understand the power of words.
  • The ability to write fast and brilliantly without AI - but with a willingness to experiment with the latest AI tools.
  • Experience in writing long and short form content.
  • The ability to communicate complex issues in a clear and concise way to tight deadlines.
  • A strong interest in geopolitics, business and economics.
  • Clear and concise oral communication skills. Excellent influencing, persuading and networking skills including at Partner level and with colleagues.
  • Natural curiosity, ability to learn the market sector and develop knowledge and understanding of the sectors in which our clients operate.
  • An understanding of the importance and relevance of brand and tone-of-voice guidelines and the need for consistency.
  • Proven experience of building strong working relationships.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
