Job summary

BDO UK is seeking a Third Party Assurance Assistant Manager within Risk Advisory Services to lead defined engagements and drive high-quality assurance work across diverse clients. You will balance engagement planning, portfolio oversight, and hands-on delivery with senior stakeholder interaction.

You will develop junior staff, apply ISAE/IFRS style standards, and use data analytics or AI-enabled audit techniques.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering high-quality Third Party Assurance engagements for a range of clients
• Delivery of projects aligned to global assurance and auditing standards (ISAE 3000/3402, ISRS 4400)
• Risk management and controls testing experience across client environments
• Inquisitive, proactive mindset with ability to challenge constructively and improve quality
• Professional qualification (ACA/ACCA or equivalent) with strong communication skills
• Strong organisational and time management skills managing multiple assignments
• Willingness to travel to client sites and interest in using data analytics or AI-enabled audit techniques

Overview As a Third party Assurance Assistant Manager within our Risk Advisory Services (RAS) team, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality assurance engagements for a diverse range of clients. You will take responsibility for leading defined engagements or workstreams, supporting engagement planning and delivery, and ensuring work is completed to a high standard in line with BDO methodology, and the relevant global assurance standards for each project. You will work closely with Managers, Senior Managers, Directors and Partners, building trusted client relationships and contributing to the effective delivery of engagements. Alongside this, you will support the development of junior team members and continue to build your technical capability, professional judgement and leadership skills as you progress towards Manager level. The role combines engagement and portfolio management with hands on delivery. Typically, you will spend around 50% of your time on management activities; such as engagement planning, portfolio oversight and project management, and 50% leading audits and undertaking specialist assignments, with this balance flexing in line with your experience and development.

You’ll be someone with

• Relevant experience in delivering high-quality Third Party Assurance, controls-based and/or data assurance engagements for a range of clients.
• Experience delivering projects aligned to global assurance and auditing standards, with the ability to tailor work approaches appropriately; desirable knowledge would include an understanding or awareness of ISAE 3000, ISAE 3402 and ISRS 4400.
• Experience in risk management and controls testing, with the ability to apply this knowledge pragmatically across different client environments
• An inquisitive and proactive mindset, with the confidence to challenge constructively, think critically about risks and controls, and contribute ideas that enhance quality and ways of working.
• A recognised professional qualification, for example ACA, ACCA or equivalent, alongside strong written and verbal communication skills and the confidence to engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
• Good organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple assignments and contribute to the delivery of a small portfolio of client engagements under manager oversight.
• A collaborative and development focused approach, with an interest in supporting and coaching junior team members, flexibility to travel to client sites as required, and an interest in using data analytics or emerging AI‑enabled audit techniques.
