Job description

We are looking for a Thermal Hydrolysis Plant (THP) Manager to join Thames Water at our Crawley Wastewater Sewage Treatment Works.

The process of Thermal Hydrolysis increases the biodegradability of wastewater residuals, boosting digester loading rates, increasing biogas production for green electricity, and producing biosolids for land fertilisation. Managing this dynamic process involves seasonal challenges.

The assets are vital for maintaining the health of the wastewater stream from the site.

We seek an enthusiastic leader to develop a team of THP Technicians, steer their performance, and foster a positive team culture with high employee engagement. The role is based at Crawley, RH10 3NW, with site visits required, so a driving license and car ownership are essential.

  • 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Permanent, full-time position
Responsibilities as the THP Performance Manager
  • Enhance asset availability and performance, focusing on safety and quality targets.
  • Lead and promote a strong health & safety culture, ensuring compliance and best practices.
  • Manage site compliance, ensuring plant availability and reliability to meet regulatory quality standards.
  • Drive team performance, develop skills, and promote safety awareness.
  • Oversee budget and financial activities, driving operational efficiencies.
  • Ensure excellent customer and stakeholder service through proactive engagement.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Experience in team engagement and development, preferably in industrial or municipal process environments.
  • Strong focus on health and safety results.
  • Effective communication skills, proficient with IT and Excel.
  • BOAS and/or WAMITAB qualifications are advantageous; training available.
  • Valid driving license is required.
