Job description

We have a great opportunity at Crawley Sewage Treatment Works for a Thermal Hydrolysis Plant Operator.

As the Thermal Hydrolysis Plant Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring, inspecting, and maintaining equipment, and reporting any defective items to ensure swift repairs or attempting a first-time fix where possible. You will work closely with other site teams to ensure the smooth operation and production of high-quality biosolids, which are used to generate green energy and are recycled back to land.

Please note that internally, the role will be known as THP Operator (Thermal Hydrolysis Process Operator).

Key Responsibilities:

1. The operation of sludge digesters, boilers, high-pressure/temperature reactors, power plants, and equipment.
2. Sampling, testing, basic maintenance, and fault-finding of the plant and equipment.
3. Gathering performance data to ensure the plant operates efficiently and complies with statutory and regulatory requirements.
4. Undertaking safety and security checks, along with housekeeping duties.
5. Maintaining close communication and liaison with the wider site team.

Additional Details:

Base Location: Crawley STW RH10 3NW.

Working Pattern: 38 hours plus standby rota, for which you will receive additional payment.
