Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity in a new role for a Band 3 Therapy Support Worker to join the acute Paediatric Therapies Team at The James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough. The post holder will work across both Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy and will be part of the wider Paediatric Therapies Service based at West Acklam Centre.

The post holder will work closely with the wider multidisciplinary team and under the guidance of the senior therapy professionals. The work is very varied and includes supporting and providing therapy to children/young people following surgery, to facilitate discharge, in the rehabilitation of longer term condition and to support the physiotherapist in the Regional Cystic Fibrosis Service.

There is also a requirementfor some independent travel including possible home visiting for this group of children/young people.

Supervision and support is provided by the wider team.

Main duties of the job

To support therapy interventions to children/young people aged 0-19 years old with a variety of conditions who are admitted to the acute Paediatric wards at The James Cook University Hospital.

The role is based on the acute paediatric wards at The James Cook University Hospital and will require providing effective, safe, evidence-based practice in this setting with clients exhibiting a wide range of multiple, medical, social and emotional problems.

Children/young people who are admitted to the acute Paediatric wards can live in the South Tees area but also the wider Tees Valley and North Yorkshire.

The post holder will also provide physiotherapy support to the Regional Cystic Fibrosis Service.

Experience working with children/young people would be advantageous but an enthusiasm for working with a wide range of children/young people up to the age of 19 is essential.

Close working with parents, other health and social care professionals is essential. You will need to be able to work as part of a team and on your own, under the guidance of the Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist.

We are a friendly, dynamic and supportive team who all work together to provide the best possible outcomes for the children, young people and their families.The ability to travel independently is a requirement of this post.
