Job overview

We are recruiting for a Therapy Radiographer - MV Radiotherapy Dept who shares our vision to be trusted to provide consistently outstanding care and exemplary service to our patients.

Mount Vernon Cancer Centre (MVCC) is one of Europe’s leading and largest cancer treatment centres. Clinical radiotherapy equipment comprises of six linear accelerators including five Truebeam units, image guidance technology and volumetric arc therapy (RapidArc) capabilities.

The Radiotherapy department is operational 7 days a week including bank holidays. External beam radiotherapy is routinely delivered between 8am-8pm Monday - Friday.

Main duties of the job
  1. To carry out complex technical radiotherapeutic procedures on all the treatment and pre-treatment units in the department on a rotational basis.
  2. Undertake the appropriate care of patient, assessment of treatment progress and side effects making appropriate referral to the multidisciplinary team.
  3. Assess patients’ level of knowledge before commencing treatment and participate in the informed consent process.
  4. Provide appropriate information or refer on as required.
  5. Guide, instruct and encourage patients receiving Radiotherapy and advise them on necessary aftercare.
  6. Operate and care for all Radiotherapy equipment.
  7. Perform calculations to determine treatment exposure and input and check treatment parameters on the treatment database for routine treatments.

Qualifications & Training
  • DCR(T) or BSc in Radiotherapy and registered with the HPCP
  • Evidence of appropriate CPD activity where relevant
  • IGRT knowledge
Previous Experience
  • Student training across the breadth of the Radiotherapy process.
  • Post-registration experience within radiotherapy
  • Experience in dealing with the public
