Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our therapy leadership team of our intermediate care services based in South East Essex. We are looking for a Senior Therapist to lead and manage the therapy provision across Intermediate Care, delivering high-quality care and driving service development and transformation. The post holder will be responsible for the operational management of the therapists and the multidisciplinary teams, including aspects of budget, contract and business management, and for leading a team that includes AHP disciplines, assistants and support staff.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate therapy staff across Intermediate Care to ensure equity of therapy provision.
  • Provide expert knowledge and skills to support the multidisciplinary teams to facilitate effective patient rehabilitation across community Intermediate Care Services.
  • Lead/assist in the management of complex discharges to ensure timely, appropriate and safe discharge of patients.
  • Provide an interface between the acute hospital and community for Intermediate Care therapists for patients within Intermediate Care.
  • Be a credible role model, demonstrating good practice to junior staff to maintain local, national and professional standards.
  • Chair monthly meetings as required to review individual patient progress within Intermediate Care with therapists to support discharge as required.
  • Meet regularly with partners to monitor contract specifications and implement changes as required.
Leadership, Management and Development

The post holder will be a Senior Therapist responsible for leadership and management of all aspects of therapy provided by Intermediate Care, including monitoring and reporting of complex and sensitive information and direct operational management of staff within the teams. Develop service across the teams, engage in service development and transformation initiatives, review the effectiveness of provision, and collaborate with other teams to improve Intermediate Care services and partnership delivery.

Qualifications and Requirements
  • Experience of leadership, management and development, preferably in a community setting.
  • Excellent risk assessment skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, efficiently and timely in written and verbal form, and know when to use in-person meetings versus other communication methods.
  • Demonstrate compassion, understanding, commitment, enthusiasm and strong motivation for AHP leadership and workforce development.
