University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for a Band 3 Therapy Assistant to join our integrated Stroke and Neuro Therapy team.
The Stroke Therapy service is forward thinking and dynamic and well respected within the Trust. We work as an integrated therapy team comprising of occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists and therapy assistants, providing high quality assessment and rehabilitation within the stroke pathway.

The key responsibilities of the position will be to work closely with the Stroke MDT team to support patients following a neurological event with their rehabilitation . The role involves primarily supporting patients on a 1:1 basis, in groups, and alongside qualified therapists to help patients regain their independence. This may include supporting patients to achieve independence in personal care such as toileting, washing and dressing. Clinical support and training will be provided by qualified therapists as part of the wider MDT. This is a great opportunity to gain new skills and work in an exciting and dynamic team.
The post-holder will need to hold a full UK driving license and have access to a car. It is also essential to have some basic IT skills.
We are looking for candidates with enthusiasm for supporting people with their rehabilitation, ability to work on their own initiative as well as within a close team. Previous experience of working with people is essential, preferably in a rehab environment. The service covers 7 days, so the successful candidate will be required to participate in weekend working.

Please note if the role or service is relocated as part of a planned move, employees will not be eligible for excess mileage reimbursement. Travel from the postholder's home to the new work base will be considered a normal commute. Any other changes not related to this relocation will be managed according to the relevant Trust or National terms and conditions.
