We are looking for a qualified or trainee Assistant Practitioner to work within our friendly therapy team alongside registered therapy colleagues delivering high quality rehabilitation to people in their own homes.
The therapy team consists of Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Assistant Practitioners, and Therapy Assistants.
You will carry a caseload delegated by the nominated clinician and be responsible for interventions with patients. You will assess an individual’s level of function and consider their activities of daily living.
You will plan and modify treatment programmes and work closely with other team members to ensure high-quality therapy outcomes for your patients.
Applicants must have a genuine interest in people and be enthusiastic and motivated in enabling people to regain and retain their independence.
The Community Therapy team covers Furness and South Lakes, with bases in Furness and Kendal. This post will mainly support the delivery of Occupational Therapy in Kendal.
Service hours are Monday - Friday 8am - 6pm and Saturday and Sunday 9am - 5pm.
If the successful candidate is required to undertake the Assistant Practitioner foundation degree, they will be initially employed at band 3 until they complete the training.
The post holder will work as part of the Community Therapy Team to provide assessment and rehabilitation as part of the wider multi-disciplinary service.
They will provide assessment and treatment to patients with diverse health needs, mainly in patients' homes, but with flexibility to work in other areas as required.
The post holder will provide feedback to qualified therapists and recognize their own limitations.
Engagement in regular informal and formal supervision is expected.
The post holder will assess, provide, and check aids, equipment, and exercises for patients on their caseload.
They will manage a delegated caseload daily, prioritizing tasks accordingly.
Work will be in the community as a lone worker, following Trust and departmental Lone Working Policy.
Adherence to the code of ethics and conduct for Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy, as well as Allied Health Professional standards, is required.
Our services operate from three main hospitals: Furness General Hospital, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary, and Westmorland General Hospital, as well as various community healthcare premises.
The post holder will be based in Kendal, providing community rehab to residents of South Lakes, and will need their own transport to visit patients at home.
