Job summary

Bridgend County Borough Council in Bridgend is recruiting two part-time Therapy Assistants (2 x 18.5 hours) to join the Integrated Cluster Networks. The role spans Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetics and is managed by an Occupational Therapist within a multidisciplinary team.

You will support therapy interventions, attend MDT meetings, perform mealtime observations and malnutrition screening, and help deliver training, service development, and admin tasks to keep the service running

Qualifications

  • Experience of supporting Speech and Language Therapy or Dietetics would be beneficial.
  • Experience of MDT meetings is desirable.
  • Ability to deliver training and provide practical advice to individuals and carers.

Responsibilities

  • Support delivery of Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetic interventions.
  • Attend MDT meetings and carry out delegated tasks (mealtime observations, communication activities, malnutrition screening).
  • Support therapy programmes, monitor progress and provide practical guidance to individuals, families and carers.
  • Contribute to service development and complete associated administrative tasks.

This is an exciting time to join our Integrated Cluster Network Teams. The cluster team work and support to develop a team around the person and their family or those important to them. The people we support can have long term complex challenges around their physical health, mental health and emotional well-being. It works with both older and younger adults. We aim to provide a holistic support to allow to live their lives as they wish to and ensure voice, choice, independence and control in their lives.

We are looking to recruit a creative, enthusiastic and motivated part-time, permanent Therapy Assistant to join our Integrated Cluster Networks. This is an exciting opportunity to work across Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetics, while being operationally managed by an Occupational Therapist within a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team.

The successful post-holder will support the delivery of Speech and Language Therapy and Dietetic interventions. This will include attending multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings and carrying out delegated tasks such as mealtime observations, communication activities and malnutrition screening. The post-holder will support therapy programmes, monitor progress and provide practical advice to individuals, families and carers to promote safe eating, drinking and adequate nutrition. The role will also include delivering training, contributing to service development, and completing associated administrative tasks to support the effective running of the service.

The Teams consist of Social Workers, District Nurses, Occupational Therapists; Physiotherapists; Dietetics; Speech and Language Therapists; Pharmacy technicians, Community Psychiatric Nurses and various technicians. We work closely with G.P. surgeries and the third sector partner agencies to assess and support the needs of adults affected by long term complex and adverse conditions as well as their carers and families.

We work closely with GPs and other cluster partners and utilise the Contingency Care Model to prevent unnecessary admissions to hospital and care homes, as part of our role to maximise the independence and choice. The continued development of this dynamic service model will require work on widening partnership opportunities with statutory partners; the third sector and with individuals from the community.

We are keen to develop resilient community connections, groups and services in Bridgend. The position will either be based in our office in Pyle or in Glanrhyd. We will offer focussed and committed development opportunities for the successful candidate.
