The role involves conducting therapeutic activities, supporting patients in a community and inpatient setting, and working under the guidance of qualified therapists. Strong communication skills and empathy are essential for this position.
Our Wellbeingdepartment enables people with progressive lifelimiting conditions to live as independently as possible. Working alongside therapists and nurses, youwill carry out intervention plans with patients and carers in order to maximise function,wellbeing and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities of the role include:
To carry out therapeutic interventions as instructedby a qualified therapist, ensuring all sessions are recordedTo conduct small group activities, as directed bythe TherapistsTo perform clerical and housekeeping tasks thatsupport the efficient running of the Therapeutic Activity Groups To work under the supervision of qualified therapystaff to undertake a variety of clinical and non-clinical tasks within theinpatient ward, outpatient setting and community To recognise role limitations and refer on to otherprofessionals as appropriate

Essential requirements of the role include:
Understanding of the impact of illness and disability on an individual
Ability to work without direct supervision and use own initiative
Good verbal and written communication
Non-judgmental approach to be able to work with people from a variety ofbackgrounds
Have empathy and understanding of issues encountered by people withpalliative care needs
