Job summary

East of England Community Health and Care NHS Trust is seeking a Band 3 Therapy Assistant based at Foxley Ward, Dereham. You will support Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists in a 21-bedded inpatient unit, delivering rehabilitation to help patients regain independence.

The role requires NVQ qualifications, a can-do attitude, and commitment to high-quality care in a community setting within an NHS framework.

Qualifications

  • NVQ 2 in health and social care or equivalent experience.
  • NVQ 3 in care.
  • Experience of working with people, in the statutory/voluntary/private sector.
  • Experience of working with people at the End of life.
  • Evidence of ongoing learning.
  • Experience of working in people’s homes.

Responsibilities

  • The post will be based on Foxley Ward, Dereham and you will work as part of the therapy team alongside registered Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists.
  • Review mobility, transfers, and activities of daily living; implement exercise programmes as appropriate.
  • Feed back details of each patient’s progress to other members of the therapy team.
  • Use electronic patient records and be prepared to learn the in-house computer systems.

You must be self-motivated, able to demonstrate sound clinical reasoning skills and have good communication skills.

Main duties of the job

The post will be based on Foxley Ward, Dereham. You will work as a member of the therapy team on the ward where you will support the registered Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Your main duties will involve reviewing mobility, transfers, personal activities of daily living and exercise programmes as appropriate. You will be responsible for feeding back details of each patients progress to other members of the therapy team.

NCHC have electronic patient records and therefore there is an expectation to use a computer on a daily. You will receive support and training to enable you to use this functionality.
