Anerley Station Road and Horn Lane are innovative young people semi-independent accommodation services. Anerley Station Road is based in Bromley, and Horn Lane is spread across two neighboring sites in Ealing. Both services support a broad range of service users, including Looked After Children, Care Leavers, Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children, and other young people referred for multiple support needs.

The services work closely with statutory services to provide wrap-around support for each customer within the service. Support is provided by a large and skilled workforce with specialist roles.

We are recruiting an experienced counsellor/psychotherapist to join the team, who will lead in facilitating therapeutic groups and individual counselling/therapy for customers across the two locations, spending 4 hours a week at each service.

The post holder will support the staff team in developing their psychological understanding and raising awareness of the emotional impact of working with young people, whilst leading on creating and maintaining a therapeutically informed programme for the team to deliver a Psychological Informed Environment in the service.

The Therapist will work with young people to improve engagement with support services and provide in-depth sessions with the aim of helping young people gain a clearer insight into their own emotional wellbeing.

The post holder will have a creative approach to engaging young people, including group and individual therapy, tailoring interactions to each young person, potentially using methods such as self-expression, mindfulness, art, or creative writing.

Key information and documentation will be kept up to the required standard, and the post holder will adhere to all relevant legislation governing these professional relationships.

The post holder will work flexibly across the service and will utilize technology where appropriate to ensure effective use of time across the service provision.

What you'll do:

  • Adopt and implement a Psychological Informed Environment in the service.
  • Support the team in carrying out holistic assessments, support plans, and comprehensive risk assessments in full consultation with service users, their families/carers, and other agencies.
  • Liaise with the multi-disciplinary team to ensure full information sharing, especially in cases of risk.
  • Lead staff debriefs following serious incidents, develop workshops to manage stress and wellbeing, and advise on supportive interventions for the team.
  • Lead team reflective practice sessions and other creative activities to promote insight and best practice.
  • Review, evaluate, and amend recovery-focused support plans according to changing needs, risks, and preferences.
  • Provide recovery-focused support to help service-users achieve personal goals, working one-to-one to achieve positive outcomes within set timeframes.
  • Support and guide other front-line staff, building capacity and skills, and contribute to internal forums.
  • Maintain external relationships with mental health professionals and develop links with community agencies.
  • Demonstrate commitment to service-user empowerment, co-production, and promoting rights.
  • Use person-centered tools to support recovery and development of service-users.
