Job description

Job overview

An exciting opportunity to combine working in the radiotherapy department with research!

Radiotherapy clinical trials are vital for improving patient outcomes. We are looking for experienced therapeutic radiographers to join the late phase team, where you will have the opportunity to undertake radiotherapy clinical trials. The research team is a small team dedicated to ensuring research is considered a treatment option for all eligible patients, working closely with clinical teams and within patients’ clinical pathways to expand research opportunities. This is a split role working equally between the research team and the radiotherapy department. This opportunity will enable you to maintain your established clinical skills while gaining new skills within the research team.

  • Assist in assessing new proposed clinical trial protocols for feasibility, including resource implications for the radiotherapy department and Trust.
  • Act as a research specialist in coordinating radiotherapy pathways in clinical trials.
  • Serve as an initial point of contact for patients participating in delegated radiotherapy trials.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of clinical trials data collection systems and complete case report forms, ensuring accurate recording of toxicities and adverse events.
  • Coordinate and monitor patient care in clinical trials by identifying potential trial participants.
  • Undertake clinical work in both treatment and pre-treatment sections of the radiotherapy department, using your knowledge and experience of clinical research to support radiographers in advancing research aims.
  • Provide all aspects of patient care as required, depending on rostered work area, in accordance with local rules and professional conduct.
  • Collaborate with the multi-professional and multidisciplinary team to influence and plan the patient care pathway for patients participating in clinical trials.
