Job summary

The Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a motivated Therapeutic Radiographer to join our radiotherapy team at the Dyson Cancer Centre. You will deliver safe, accurate radiotherapy treatment and associated imaging using highly specialised equipment.

The role requires full accountability for patient care, supervision of junior staff and students, and ensuring efficient patient flow through pre-treatment, treatment areas and the radiotherapy department.

Qualifications

  • Therapeutic Radiography degree or equivalent qualification.
  • HCPC registration and active CPD evidence.
  • Willingness to undertake further study and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high professional standards.

  • Perform IGRT and data recording.

Therapeutic Radiographer

We are seeking a motivated and skilled Radiographer to join our radiotherapy team, delivering safe, accurate, and compassionate care to patients throughout their treatment journey.


You will work as part of our friendly, collaborative and forward thinking radiotherapy team delivering high-quality radiotherapy treatment and associated imaging using highly specialised equipment.


The role involves full accountability for patient care, supporting and supervising junior staff and students, and helping ensure an efficient flow of patients through pre-treatment, treatment areas, and the radiotherapy department as a whole.


You will be based in our state of the art Dyson Cancer Centre which opened in 2024 at the RUH. It was purpose-built to change the way we deliver cancer care. This flagship facility is more than just bricks and mortar - it's a place of hope, innovation, and healing; creating a beautiful environment to work in.


Main duties of the job


  • Maintain high professional standards

  • Assess patients' status and suitability for procedures.

  • Provide information, practical and emotional support to patients and their carers.

  • Perform IGRT and data recording.

  • Participate in induction, supervision and teaching of staff and students.

  • Demonstrate the work of the department to interested parties.

  • Assist in clinical audit or research being undertaken.

  • Adhere to Trust policies including health and safety, ionising radiation regulations, local rules and quality assurance policies.

  • Collect and input patient data for planning and treatment purposes.

  • Accurately interpret treatment plans/ prescriptions and be precise in their practical application.

  • Accurately and openly report clinical incidents.

  • Observe, report and record machine faults.

  • Calibrate, perform and record equipment checks.

  • Operate treatment and pre-treatment equipment.

  • Use effectively the IT systems.

  • Follow an agreed program of continuous professional development.

Qualifications


  • Therapeutic Radiography Degree or equivalent

  • HCPC registered

  • Evidence of CPD

  • Willingness to undertake further study


Knowledge and Experience


  • Thorough knowledge and wide experience of techniques and equipment

  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and IRMER

  • Knowledge of clinical risk management and clinical governance agenda

  • IGRT/IMRT knowledge and experience

  • NHS experience

  • Post grad radiotherapy experience

  • Evidence of increasing responsibility

  • Experience of service development

  • Post grad superficial xray experience

  • Knowledge of national developments

  • Knowledge of current trials
  • Knowledge of auditing practice
