Job summary

Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a registered Health Play Specialist to join the Outreach Play Service at Leeds Children's Hospital, supporting children with cancer and their families in home and school settings. You will assess needs, plan therapeutic play interventions and liaise with MDTs.

This charity-funded role involves travel, after-school visits, bereavement support for siblings, memory-making activities, and autonomous work with support from a team leader.

Qualifications

• Must hold Health Play Specialist Foundation Degree.
• Knowledge and understanding of bereavement in children and young people.
• Full driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assess and develop therapeutic play interventions for children with cancer.
• Deliver play-based interventions in the child’s home and school environments.
• Support siblings and families, including bereavement and memory-making activities.
• Travel to community settings and schools as part of Outreach duties.
• Work autonomously within the MDT with supervision from a team lead.
