Therapeutic Education Practitioner

Do you have a background in SEMH, SEBD, or ASD? Do you have experience with challenging behaviour? Are you trained in Team Teach or MAPA? Have you covered lessons? Do you have tutoring or small group teaching experience?

This specialist school based in West Drayton is seeking a Therapeutic Education Practitioner with experience working with challenging children and young people. The school is a specialist PRU catering to young people who have been excluded or are at risk of exclusion from mainstream schools.

Applicants must have experience working with mental health issues and complex SEN needs.

The school believes every young person should have access to appropriate education in a safe, stable, and supportive environment.

The role involves working with secondary-aged pupils with SEMD, SEBD, and troubled behaviour. The students range from KS2 to KS4, with some being academically capable.

Therapeutic Education Practitioners will have opportunities to succeed through highly personalised individual education plans tailored to support their students.

The department collaborates closely with nurses, doctors, therapists, and community professionals.

This position starts ASAP, with interviews after half term.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Demonstrate excellent behaviour management skills.
2. Build positive relationships with young people and staff.
3. Teach or cover a range of lessons as needed.
4. Work with children with SEMH within a SEN environment.
5. Work with secondary-aged pupils.
6. Collaborate with classroom teachers to define appropriate activities.
7. Assess children with learning difficulties and identify individual needs.
8. Liaise with professionals such as social workers, speech and language therapists, physiotherapists, and educational psychologists.
