Job description

Role Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Theatre Technician to support the performing arts productions and events. You will be responsible for operating and maintaining technical theatre equipment, assisting with set construction, and ensuring smooth technical execution of rehearsals and performances. This role plays a key part in enriching the learning experience of our students by providing expert technical support and guidance.

Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain lighting, sound, and stage equipment during productions and rehearsals.

Assist in building, rigging, and striking sets and scenery.

Collaborate with faculty, directors, and students to execute production technical requirements.

Manage technical rehearsals and assist with load-in and load-out of equipment.

Maintain safety standards backstage and in the workshop.

Provide training and supervision to student technicians.

Keep inventory of technical equipment and report maintenance needs.

What We’re Looking For:

Previous experience in theatre technical work, preferably in an educational setting.

Strong knowledge of lighting consoles, sound systems, and stage rigging.

Hands-on skills in scenic construction and technical problem solving.

Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends during productions.

Good communication skills and ability to work well with students and staff.

Commitment to safety and fostering an inclusive environment.

Experience within sound and lighting support is a requirement for this role!
