An NHS Trust is seeking a Band 6 practitioner for the neurosurgical theatres in Plymouth. This role involves overseeing day-to-day management, leading a dedicated team, and ensuring high-quality patient care. Ideal candidates will have proven experience in neurosurgical procedures and demonstrate leadership skills. Flexible working arrangements are supported, and internal staff are given preference.
As a Band 6 practitioner, you will be responsible for overseeing the operational day-to-day management of the neurosurgical theatres and supporting junior staff members. You should have a good working knowledge of cranial and spinal neurosurgical procedures. The Trust is a 24-hour major trauma centre, and successful applicants for the Team Leader post will be expected to participate in the on-call and weekend rota. Scrub Practitioners will be expected to participate in the 7-day service, working shifts to meet service demand.
Our team is dedicated to delivering high-quality patient care and is involved in ongoing improvement programmes, reviewing practice and perioperative pathways developed in consultation with patients and service users.
Preference will be given to internal Trust staff, Priority and 'At Risk' status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon, who demonstrate recent relevant experience as per the Person Specification.
You will take daily responsibility and provide professional leadership for your designated theatre team, demonstrating effective communication, resource management, and maintaining standards of care in accordance with national and local policies.
