Theatre Support Worker - Theatres Gynae and Urology

Join to apply for the Theatre Support Worker - Theatres Gynae and Urology role at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Theatre Support Worker to join our Gynae and Urology Team. Our department is dynamic and fast-paced, with no two days the same. After completing a 4-week Healthcare Support Worker Academy, you will receive extensive training across the department with support from our in-house clinical educators. You will also work towards completing a theatres skills book to ensure the best patient care.

Working Hours

Our shift pattern is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 6 pm, with occasional 8 am to 8 pm shifts. Please note, attendance at the full-time, 4-week Academy is mandatory at the start of employment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in patient preparation and collection before surgery, acting as a patient advocate in theatre.
  • Monitor patients pre-surgery.
  • Assist with sterile equipment setup and maintenance as a theatre runner.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment following protocols.
  • Set up and maintain theatre equipment.
  • Manage stock levels within the theatre.
  • Handle tissue samples and document appropriately.
  • Handle sensitive information securely.
