An exciting opportunity has arisen for candidates to apply for the role of Band 3 Theatre Support Worker within the Theatre department at the Royal Blackburn Hospital. The department comprises 11 operating theatres covering various surgical specialties including Orthopaedics and Trauma, General Surgery, Vascular, HPB, Urology, ENT, and Max-Facs. East Lancashire Hospital's NHS Trust also specializes in robotic surgery with training opportunities available across both sites.

The main duties of the role include:

1. Checking, cleaning, and preparing transfer trolleys.
2. Establishing a safe working environment for patients and staff, ensuring patient privacy and dignity are maintained.
3. Transferring patients to and from clinical areas, reporting issues to relevant staff.
4. Receiving patients in the reception area, verifying patient details prior to procedures.
5. Preparing the clinical area before procedures.
6. Safely moving, handling, and positioning patients.
7. Acting as circulating person according to competencies to support surgical teams.
8. Maintaining stock levels of linen and clinical equipment, reporting discrepancies.
9. Maintaining department documentation such as care plans and electronic records in line with Trust policies.
10. Reporting untoward incidents via IR1 system.
11. Ensuring patient property is returned or transferred appropriately.
12. Reporting concerns regarding patient safety, complaints, or safeguarding issues to senior staff.

The role also involves basic observational monitoring, accurate documentation in the patient’s care pathway, and reporting to qualified staff.

Your work base will be the Royal Blackburn Hospital, with travel required to Burnley General site as needed.
