Job description


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Theatre Support Worker to join the team working in theatres.

The post holder will be responsible for:
• Assisting the surgical team to provide a quality service.
• Assisting the surgical team to deliver safe patient care
• Supporting the surgical team in the preparation of sterile and non- sterile equipment.
• Maintaining a clean and tidy environment throughout theatres.
• Maintaining a good stock levels
• As part of the nights and weekends CEPOD team

• Works as part of the team to maintain good working relationships.
• Communicates well both verbal and written.
• Is able to work under supervision.
• Able to provide and receive routine information.
• Provides information to enable the effectiveness of care to be evaluated.
• Reports any concern regarding patient care.
• Maintains confidentiality.
• Supervised by the trained nurse, records care.
• Able to make sure infection control standards are maintained by all members of the MDT
• Able to maintain Theatres clean and tidy all the times
• Join weekend and night rotation after competence training.

You must also demonstrate a good verbal and written command of English, along with excellent communication/ interpersonal skills and a reasonable level of numeracy equivalent to GCSE.

There will be an expectation that you complete a Care Certificate qualification in Perioperative care.

As above requirements in main duties of job and as follows:
• Under the direction and supervision of the registered nurse, participates in the delivery of planned programs of care.
• Assisting in the receiving of patients.
• Assists in the collection of patients from the ward.
• Assists with the checking and preparation of instruments and equipment.
• Unpacks and records arrival of equipment.
• Supplying the surgical team with items as instructed.
• Assisting the scrub team in gowning and gloving.
• Counts swabs with a registered nurse
• Assisting in correctly dispatching specimens as instructed.
• Be aware of competence and ask for assistance as required.
