York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in York is seeking Health care support workers/theatre support worker at Band 2-3 for an Acute theatre team. The role includes a trainee run-through position with extensive in-department training following a 4-week Healthcare Support Worker Academy.

There are three vacancies: two permanent full-time and one fixed term/secondment up to 9 months. The post involves pre-surgery care, theatre setup, patient advocacy and 24/7 shift coverage.

• Experience as Health care support workers/Theatre support worker or keen to learn in trainee run through position (Band 2- Band 3).
• Willing to undertake extensive training including a 4 week Healthcare Support Worker Academy.

Responsabilidades

• Assist in the collection and preparation of patient before surgery and act as patient advocate in theatre.
• Monitor patients before surgery.
• Set up and maintain theatre equipment and assist with sterile set up.
• Maintain a safe environment and follow cleaning protocols.
• Stock up and maintain stock levels with theatre.
• Handle tissue samples and document correctly.
• Work as part of a 24/7 service with in hours/out of hours shift pattern.
