Job summary

York Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting a Trainee Theatre Support Worker for acute theatres in York. Three vacancies include 2 permanent posts and 1 fixed-term/secondment up to 9 months.

The post involves Healthcare Support Worker duties, with a four-week academy and subsequent theatre training in a busy environment. 37.5 hours per week, with shift patterns in-hours and out-of-hours, based in York.

Qualifications

• Health care support workers/Theatre support worker with training to trainee run-through (band 2-3).
• After 4 week Healthcare Support Worker Academy, extensive training in department across supernumerary period.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the collection and preparation of patients before surgery.
• Monitor patients before surgery.
• Act as theatre runner for setup of sterile equipment.
• Follow cleaning protocol to maintain a safe theatre environment.
• Set up and maintain theatre equipment and stocks.
