Job description

We are seeking an experienced senior theatre radiographer to join us as the Theatre Superintendent at the John Radcliffe Hospital (SEC Surgical Elective Centre, JR John Radcliffe and WW-paed West Wing theatres). This post is available with the incoming Surgical Elective Centre new-build.

The SEC is a dedicated elective centre with 7-new theatres, two with high end fusion enabled spinal imaging requirements, three conventional theatres and two fixed hybrid vascular theatres suites (remit of the hybrid is under the IR superintendent and while potential rotation can be discussed this role is focussed on 3D and traditional 3D theatre imaging). The Theatre Superintendent will also be responsible for developing and maintaining the quality within the theatre radiographers and ensuring resilience amongst the radiographer component of the team.

Applications are welcomed from motivated and enthusiastic senior radiographers, current Superintendents and the like who are committed about developing and improving upon the established safe, high quality, patient care environment that exists. The successful candidate will demonstrate high standards of radiographic quality, knowledge, experience, integrity, and compassion within the theatre radiology speciality.

Previous experience deputising for superintendents and evidenced departmental leadership is highly desirable. The wider theatre service is 24/7 and is covered by on-site staff throughout the 24/7 period, consequently the typical shifts for the Theatre Superintendent range between 08:00 - 20:00.
