Obstetrics & General Theatre experience is essential.

We would like to hear from qualified ODP practitioners and Registered Nurses to be a part of our dynamic obstetric/general theatre team at our high performing trust. We pride ourselves on excellence and aim to set the national standard for excellence in patient safety, quality and continuous improvement. Our 9,000 staff have an important role in fulfilling this aim, making working for the trust very rewarding. Following a period of appropriate training, our ODPs and Registered Nurses provide assistance as a member of the Theatre team as an anaesthetic/recovery practitioner or scrub practitioner. As effective role models, our ODPs and Registered Nurses develop their skills and abilities to supervise and plan evidence based interventional care for patients, moving from close supervision to proximal supervision.

The operating department at the James Cook University Hospital includes 20 in-patient theatres within the Centre. Included, is a recovery area within main theatres plus the recovery area within the paediatric day facility. Also at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton the operating department comprises of 6 main in-patient theatres, (which includes obstetrics) plus the Surgical Day Unit (1 GA &1 minor ops theatre).

The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities:

General Surgery Gynaecology Urology MRI

Plastic Surgery Orthopaedics Maxilofacial ECT

Paediatrics Emergency
