Qualifications

• Registered with the NMC or HCPC essential.
• Senior Scrub Practitioner with a strong clinical background across all surgery types including orthopaedics.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Ability to work flexibly, take accountability and respond to urgent matters calmly and informatively.
• Ability to present information accurately, clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• To assist the Theatre Manager and Deputy Theatre Manager in delivering and maintaining patient care standards within the theatre.
• Provide skilled assistance to the surgeons.
• Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality pre- and post-operative patient-centred care and customer service.
• Provide guidance, support and clinical scrub expertise and leadership to the Theatre team, ensuring effective use of theatre resources.
• Demonstrate clinical expertise in specialist areas and act as a resource to enhance the service for clients.
• Ensure the theatre is prepared daily in line with quality standards.
• Comply with internal procedures to maintain/servicing of equipment per manufacturers' instructions and report defects.
• Ensure required documentation (legal, quality or other) is accurately maintained.
• Ensure medicines administration and management is carried out appropriately per policies.
• Coordinate and maintain stock levels of drugs, stores and implants with Theatre Manager and Procurement.
• Maintain effective communication across the Hospital with patients, team members and Consultants.
