Job description
Overview

We have vacancies for Band 5 Theatre Scrub Practitioner/ODP to join Theatre team. We are currently looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated registered nurse to join our theatre team in CMH Theatres. We have nine modern operating theatres and fully equipped recovery Unit. We cover a range of specialities in acute and elective surgery. Specialities include Colorectal, General, Urology, ENT, Ophthalmology surgery and Electives Orthopaedics.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in developing and consolidating a cohesive and supportive team within the peri-operative environment.
  • Ensure good communication verbally and via formal documentation and electronic sources with all members of the peri-operative nursing, multidisciplinary team, patients and families to ensure patients receive optimum care.
  • Maintain the patient’s right to privacy and dignity at all times.
  • Communicate with all colleagues in a courteous and sympathetic manner.
  • Act as advocate for the patient and family.
  • Ensure carers/family and visitors are aware of policies, standards/guidelines relevant to the patient’s care or clinical area.
  • Work in partnership with the patient and family and other health care professionals in care/discharge planning.
  • Accept responsibility; be aware and able to locate all policies relating to good working practice within the clinical area and adhere to them.
  • Recognize the legal implications of nursing documentation and maintain accurate records.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records of patient care in line with Trust policies and NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct.
  • Adhere to the NMC/HCPC Code of Conduct and Trust policies relating to patient confidentiality/Data Protection Act/Caldicott requirements.
  • Adhere to the trust swabs/instruments/needles count policy and WHO surgical check list procedures.
Requirements/Qualifications
  • RGN / ODP with post-registration experience in peri-operative nursing (scrubbing and circulating) to join the theatre team.
  • Ability to work across all specialities with rotation base.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills; willingness to learn and utilise skills in all peri-operative areas.
  • Willingness to monitor equipment usage to ensure efficiency and cost-effective working is advantageous.
  • Post involves Early, late duty, Long Day, on call and working Monday to Saturday.
