Job description
Overview

We are looking for a dynamic and motivated team player to take up the position of scheduler to cover maternity leave. The post holder will join the centralised scheduling service that is responsible for booking patients in for their pre-assessment appointments and surgery at the Royal London Hospital. We have a large well-staffed centralised scheduling department responsible for booking all surgery in the three operating theatre suites at the Royal London Hospital site.

You will also work closely with speciality managers and clinicians to monitor performance and develop new approaches to meet the challenging scheduling needs that the Royal London Hospital poses over the coming years.

The Royal London Hospital is the largest of six hospitals that make up Barts Health, the largest NHS Trust in the UK supporting a community of over 1.2 million people in east London and beyond. The hospital is home to an internationally renowned medical school and one of the biggest children’s hospitals in the UK. The hospital is also home to the London Air Ambulance providing world leading trauma and emergency care which brings its own unique challenges to scheduling.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure provision of comprehensive and efficient booking and scheduling service for patients that adheres to the Trust’s Access policy with national and local Access targets.
  • Develop efficient and effective systems of work to ensure that patients experience good communication, choice and a personal and responsive service.
  • Provide a consistent approach across the trust; follow standard operating procedures (SOP) describing how the role’s functions are carried out and the timescales to be adhered to.
  • Collaborate with speciality managers and clinicians to monitor performance and contribute to improvements in scheduling.
