Job summary

The Princess Margaret Hospital in Windsor, part of Circle Health Group, is hiring a Theatre Practitioner in Recovery for a 30-hour weekly role. The successful candidate will assist the surgical team, maintain sterility, support anaesthetics, monitor patients and provide post-operative care, while adhering to infection control and patient safety standards.

Applicants should be Registered Nurses (NMC) or ODPs (HCPC) with theatre experience and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instruments and maintain sterility; anticipate surgeon needs and ensure equipment safety.
• Support the Anaesthetist in equipment prep, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
• Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals, manage pain and nausea, and discharge readiness.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment and report faults.
