The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe, part of Circle Health Group, is hiring a Theatre Practitioner to join the Recovery & Anaesthetics team. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours per week and involves working across sites as required, with a salary up to £43,000 depending on experience.

You'll prep instruments, maintain sterility, assist the anaesthetist, monitor patients, and participate in post-operative care, ensuring safety and smooth theatre lists.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or ODP (HCPC) with current registration.
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Strong infection control, manual handling and patient safety knowledge.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic environment.
• Orthopaedic experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, and supporting anesthesia equipment.
• Prepare theatre set up according to surgery type and patient needs.
• Monitor vital signs, manage pain and nausea, and discharge readiness.
• Maintain equipment safety and report faults; ensure infection control.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team to achieve safe lists and a positive theatre environment.

The Shelburne Hospital in High Wycombe is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

Applicants must be able to travel to the sister site - The Chiltern Hospital in Great Missenden - for dual-site working.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department. This role will work across Recovery & Anaesthetics.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours per week. The role holder will be required to cover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Applicants should meet the following criteria:

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
• Applicants must have previous orthopaedic experience
