Job summary

Circle Health Group’s The Saxon Clinic in Milton Keynes is seeking a Theatre Practitioner (Bank) to join on an as-and-when-needed basis, supporting surgical teams during busy periods and providing cover for annual leave.

You must be an NMC registered nurse or HCPC registered ODP with theatre experience; you will set up theatres, assist in anaesthetics, maintain sterility, monitor patients, and ensure safety throughout perioperative care.

Overview

Theatre Practitioner (Bank) at The Saxon Clinic in Milton Keynes.

Bank shifts. Salary up to £25.00 per hour depending on experience, training, and qualification. The Saxon Clinic is part of Circle Health Group, Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals and clinics.

This is a bank role working on an "as and when required" basis; you will supplement staffing levels during busy periods and provide cover for existing staff in times of annual leave or absence.

Duties of this role include

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning; provide post‑operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.

Applicants should meet the following criteria

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment in at least one area (scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery).
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem‑solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
• SFA qualification is desirable.
