Job summary

Bupa UK is seeking a Theatre Practitioner Anaesthetics (ODP/RGN) at Cromwell Hospital, London. Permanent role, 37.5 hours per week with shifts Mon–Sat and weekend enhancements, offering £37,080 to £46,890 per annum and a Golden Hello of £3,000 (or £5,000 relocation).

You will join a busy theatre with Cardiac, Orthopaedics, ENT and Ophthalmic services, supported by Bupa’s Clinical Training Academy. The role focuses on delivering high-quality anaesthetic care within a multidisciplinary team, with

Qualifications

• Must hold an ODP/Anaesthetic Nurse qualification (HCPC / Adult).
• Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics required.
• Minimum of 2 years UK experience in Anaesthetics.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to consultants during all surgical procedures under local/regional/sedation/general anaesthetic.
• Assist in positioning and preparation of patients as directed by the surgical team and label/dispatch specimens.
• Prepare patients for procedures and provide immediate post-operative care.
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner and ensure safety.
• Work as a team across theatre areas, sharing knowledge and supporting colleagues.
• Help control cross-infection by following dress, decontamination and asepsis procedures.

You’ll Help Us Make Health Happen By

Your role as an Anaesthetic Nurse/ODP is ensure that we provide the best quality service in a pleasant environment for both staff and patients whilst ensuring that a high quality, cost effective service is delivered to patients and consultant users. You’ll work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, being flexible and supporting with shared tasks.

• Provide assistance to the consultants during all surgical procedures whether under local/regional/sedation/general anaesthetic.
• Assist in the positioning and preparation of a patient as directed by the surgical team and ensure that any specimens are correctly labelled and dispatched to the laboratory.
• Prepare patients for clinical / operative procedures and provide immediate post-operative care.
• Take charge of the clinical area in the absence of an advanced practitioner, ensuring the safety of patients, visitors and staff.
• Participate fully as a team member, including working in all areas of the theatre suite, sharing knowledge and information and supporting colleagues, to promote a cohesive team and the achievement of team objectives.
• Help to control cross infection by observing departmental policy regarding dress, the maintenance of a clean working environment, decontamination and sterilisation procedures and asepsis.

Key Skills / Qualifications Needed For This Role

• You must hold a relevant ODP / Anaesthetic Nurse qualification (HCPC / ADULT RGN)
• Post-registration experience within Anaesthetics
• Minimum of 2 years recent UK experience in Anaesthetics
• Ability to deliver high standards of care.
