Job summary

Circle Health Group is recruiting a Theatre Practitioner for The Highfield Hospital in Rochdale. This full‑time, 37.5 hours per week role offers a salary of up to £41,000 per year, dependent on experience and qualifications.

The successful candidate will be a registered nurse (NMC) or HCPC‑registered ODP with theatre experience and a focus on sterile technique, patient safety and team collaboration. The Highfield Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, a nationwide independent healthcare

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or HCPC registered.
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment (scrub, anaesthetics or recovery).
  • Understanding of infection control and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to a dynamic theatre setting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare instruments, maintain sterility, anticipate surgeon needs and ensure equipment safety.
  • Support anaesthetist with equipment prep, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning.
  • Provide post-operative care, monitor vitals, manage pain/nausea, and readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention policies at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment before use and report faults.
  • Work with a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe surgical lists.
  • Contribute to a positive, respectful theatre environment.

The Highfield Hospital in Rochdale is part of Circle Health Group , Britain's leading provider of independent healthcare with a nationwide network of hospitals & clinics, performing more complex surgery than any other private healthcare provider in the country.

We have an opportunity for a Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in theTheatredepartment.

This is a full time role for 37.5 hours a week. The role holder will be required tocover a flexible shift pattern.

Duties of this role include:
  • Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety;
  • support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management, and positioning;
  • and provide post-operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
  • Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
  • Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
  • Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment prior to use and report faults immediately.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists
  • Support and contribute to a positive, respectful, and efficient theatre environment.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:
  • Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
  • Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery.
  • Understanding of infection control, manual handling, and patient safety principles.
  • Ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to safe surgical practice.
