Job summary

Circle Health Group is seeking a Theatre Practitioner for Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex. This is a full‑time, 37.5‑hour per week role with a flexible shift pattern within the theatre department.

You will prepare instruments, maintain sterility, assist anaesthetics, and provide post‑operative care while ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the surgical pathway.

Qualifications

• Must hold NMC or HCPC registration and have theatre experience.
• Experience in scrub roles, orthopaedic procedures preferred.
• Strong communication and patient-safety focus.

Responsibilities

Theatre Practitioner – Goring Hall Hospital – 37.5 Hours & Permanent – Salary: Up to £38,000.00 per year

Overview

Goring Hall Hospital in West Sussex is part of Circle Health Group, a leading independent healthcare provider in the UK. This full‑time role is for 37.5 hours a week with a flexible shift pattern. The incumbent will work as part of the multidisciplinary Theatre department.

Duties of This Role Include

• Assist the surgical team by preparing instruments, maintaining sterility, anticipating surgeon needs, and ensuring equipment safety; support the Anaesthetist in equipment preparation, patient monitoring, airway management and positioning; and provide post‑operative care, monitoring vital signs, managing pain and nausea, and ensuring patient readiness for discharge.
• Adhere to infection prevention and control policies and procedures at all times.
• Set up operating theatres according to surgery type and specific patient requirements.
• Check all surgical and anaesthetic equipment before use and report faults immediately.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to achieve safe and efficient surgical lists.
• Support and contribute to a positive, respectful and efficient theatre environment.

Applicants Should Meet The Following Criteria

• Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC).
• Experience or training in a theatre environment specialising in scrub (particularly Major Orthopaedic procedures), anaesthetics, or recovery.
• Understanding of infection control, manual handling and patient safety principles.
• Ability to work under pressure, problem‑solve and respond quickly to changes in a dynamic environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Attention to detail, accuracy and commitment to safe surgical practice.
